Delicious grated apple pie!

Today I will give you a wonderful recipe for grated apple pie.

I too had seen it once while searching the internet and since then I have not changed it for anything. You will go crazy even though it is very different from the classic apple pie that we know from our grandmothers and mothers.

Let's see the recipe in detail:

Materials:

For the dough:

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

1 teaspoon baking powder

A pinch of salt

½ cup butter at room temperature

½ cup olive oil

½ cup sugar

3-4 spoons of water

For the filling:

2 large apples or correspondingly smaller

½ cup granulated sugar (brown or white)

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

½ teaspoon of cloves

Optionally a little nutmeg

½ cup raisins

In addition, 2-3 spoons of powdered sugar for sprinkling

 

Friday:

Mix the flour with the baking powder, salt and cinnamon in a bowl. Put the olive oil, butter and sugar in a mixing bowl and add the flour mixture all at once. Mix with your fingertips until the mixture becomes crumbly and add as much water as necessary to gather the "crumbs" into a dough. Usually 3-4 tablespoons is enough. Press the dough to the same thickness in the bowl and divide it into three, with one piece slightly larger than the others. We take the biggest piece, make it into a ball, put it in a freezer bag and put it in the freezer. Set the rest of the dough aside and prepare the filling.

Wash and clean the apples and rub them with the tomato grater in a bowl. Add sugar, spices, and raisins. When half an hour to 45 minutes has passed since we put the dough in the freezer, we start making our pie. Turn on the oven at 180 degrees. In a tart pan or a 26 cm diameter spring form, spread the dough little by little with our hands, raising the side walls about 2 centimeters high. Spread the filling evenly. We take the frozen part that will have hardened but must not be frozen and with the tomato grater we rub it over the whole filling. We spread the grated dough to cover the entire filling but do not press it, it must remain in the form of crumbs. Bake our pie in the preheated oven for about an hour on the middle rack. Take it out, let it cool and sprinkle it with baking powder.
