Fasting: What seafood offers us
Seafood is consumed more during it fasting. Know that when you choose seafood such as, for example, octopus, squid, cuttlefish, shrimp the shellfish, you are doing very well as they offer protein of high biological value, iron and vitamin B12, partially replacing meat and its products. Seafood also contains other essential nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins A, D and E and many minerals and trace elements, including selenium, zinc, magnesium, calcium and iodine. Regarding their cholesterol content, this is indeed increased, which often leads to avoiding their consumption. However, it is important to mention that the cholesterol contained in food does not seem to affect cholesterol levels in the blood to such a large extent, while the presence of polyunsaturated fatty acids in seafood can be beneficial.
Be careful, however, it is better to avoid their overconsumption by people with hypercholesterolemia, with the exception of octopus, which has much less cholesterol than the rest.
