The spring allergiess have already started for some time and are expected to become even more intense as we approach Easter. Taking antihistamines regularly will keep symptoms under control. Also, the duration of the treatment will depend on the persistence of the symptoms and of course on the irritating factors. Most people can take antihistamines safely. Antihistamines should not be used by people with a rare metabolic disorder called acute porphyria. In addition, it may not be suitable for people with liver or kidney problems or for pregnant and nursing mothers. They may also not be suitable for people with increased eye pressure. In any case, it is wise to get your doctor's opinion before taking any medication, and the same goes for antihistamines, of course.
