Tips to protect your home from mold

In this post I will not tell you how to deal with it mold in your home but essentially how to prevent it. A few useful tips worth implementing.

  • To prevent mold from growing in a home, humidity should be kept below 60%. If there is a lot of humidity in your home, it would be good to take immediate drastic measures by buying a dehumidifier.
  • Do not leave wet surfaces inside your home for too long. Also, after rain make sure to dry or shield any surface that needs protection so that water does not enter the interior of your home.
  • A humidity meter will help you identify the humidity levels in your home at any time. You can find such counters at stores with electronic systems.
  • According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), as the outside temperature drops, the air inside the home holds less moisture. Without good air flow inside the home, excess moisture can appear on walls, windows and floors. To avoid this problem, leave room doors open, move furniture so it's not against the walls, and open the doors to your closets. Allow fresh air to reduce humidity and prevent mold from growing.
  • If you have a lot of houseplants, make sure you don't overwater. Water your plants with as much water as they need and do not overdo it, which not only does not help your plants, but favors the growth of mold.
  • If you see any sign of mold in the house (in the joints between the bathroom tiles or in a corner of a wall) remove it immediately, using special anti-mold spray. Then clean and dry the area carefully, removing all moisture.
  • Bleach does not "kill" mold
