Mules: The casual chic version of the heel will be worn a lot in the winter too!

We saw enough of them in the summer and we won't stop seeing them in the winter either. Some people don't like it at all, while some others go "crazy".

For the record, the term mule comes from the Latin "mulleus calceus" which was the type of shoe worn by emperors and supreme judges in Ancient Rome (according to information from Wikipedia).

This is the shoe that is closed at the front and open at the back, leaving the heel free.
