Herbs in our everyday life – Our natural pharmacy
We live in Greece, a country blessed with thousands of species herbs and this cannot be disputed.
However, there are many who do not "calculate" them in particular.
You may have your pots at home and every now and then you cut a small branch to add to your food but as you know there are medicinal herbs which are the treasure of nature and a gift to man and his health while at the same time there are other uses that you don't mind.
So while we forget them, every autumn with the first colds, herbs come and become part of our everyday life, usually as a drink for a cold.
But it's not autumn. We can use them all year round and they prove to be... miraculous!
Use in our daily life…
For cold and cough
Put a stick or cinnamon powder in hot wine for revitalization. Externally we inhale vapors for coughs and colds but we also use it for rubbing.
Also, sage, while it is used in cooking and drunk as a decoction hot or cold, is ideal for cases of colds, pharyngitis, hoarseness, it is antitussive, diuretic, antihemorrhagic, while at the same time it helps with intestinal diseases, weakness and hair loss.
Against stress
Honeysuckle works against stress, lifts the mood and is a mild antidepressant. Fights anxiety, indigestion and insomnia while enhancing memory.
No more headaches
Basil can act to combat dizziness, migraines and headaches. It is diuretic and indicated for stomach and intestinal ailments.
Against acne
To fight acne with satisfactory results, calendula and parsley work.
– Calendula: External use of the plant by washing (Decoction of 70 grams in 1 liter of water).
– Parsley: : External use of the plant by washing (Decoction of 40 grams in 1 liter of water).
It goes without saying that we can all have our natural pharmacy at home, but in no case do they replace the doctor and his diagnosis, while it is necessary to consult him.
