This is how you will take care of toenails that grow crookedly!
When toenails grow inward the pain is excruciating. You should take care of them before you get to the point of needing surgery.
What causes ingrown toenails?
– The wrong shoes
Shoes that are too tight or don't hug the foot properly put pressure on our toes, causing pain. This can result in the tip of the nail turning inwards into the skin, causing it to grow in the wrong direction.
– Some injury
Injuries can also be one of the main causes of abnormal nail growth. That is, if after an injury, you have lost your nail or it has broken too deeply, there is a chance that the skin will start to grow around the nail and trap it as it tries to grow, causing more pain.
– Bad care
Unlike the manicure of our hands, we should not cut our nails in an oval shape, but in a straight line, since when they are oval they can more easily be pushed down and start growing into our skin.
What to do to take care of ingrown toenails?
- Foot bath to soften the skin
Before you start doing anything, you should give your feet a good foot bath, as this will make your skin softer.
You should take a foot bath two to four times a week, for about 20 minutes, in order to take care of the hygiene of your feet. It is very important to use warm or hot water and in no case cold, since you will not see the desired result. - Put a piece of cotton under the nail
Take a small piece of cotton and twist it with your fingers to make a thin roll. Then, gently lift your nail where it has entered the skin and carefully push it down to separate it from the skin. - Heal the pain with simple ingredients
Put apple cider vinegar with a cotton swab on the wound, several times a day. Apple cider vinegar has the ability to nourish the skin and help prevent infections.
An equally effective ingredient is eucalyptus oil, a small amount of which can relieve pain and help prevent infections.
Use a slice of lemon and rub it gently on the wound. Lemon can help even if your toe is already infected.
But if something like this has happened, you should wrap it around your nails, using a bandage and leaving it on for a whole day. The acid in the lemon will fight the already existing infection.
If, despite all this, the problem does not go away and the pain worsens, it would be good to visit a doctor, so that you can catch it before the situation gets worse!
