Make your own soap bars for Christmas gifts
We are a few days away from the Christmas.
The spirit of Christmas has captured us as well as our creativity and imagination, despite the difficulties we are experiencing due to the corona virus.
So I thought, what could I make to give personal gifts to my loved ones and besides the idea with mini butters that I have given you, we can also do very easily bars of soap.
Let's go see what we need and what we should do!
Recipe for natural glycerin soap bars
Materials:
- 500g or 1kg glycerin base (white or transparent)
- watercolors
- essential oils or fragrances of your choice
- silicone molds
- 1 plastic or glass jug or bain-marie
- 1 plastic or wooden stirrer
- spray with pure alcohol
Implementation:
1st step:
For a soap, we need about 100gr of glycerine base. Cut the base into pieces. Depending on how many soaps we will make, we weigh the pieces and put a corresponding amount in the bain-marie to melt. eg if we want to make 5 big ones soaps we will use about half a kilo of base if we are going to make 10 mini ones hand soaps, we will need about 300gr. If we have silicone molds with many pockets, melt about 300g of base. We can also put the quantity in the plastic or glass jug and melt it in the microwave for 30-40 seconds (not more than that because the base will boil).
2nd step:
After the base has melted, take it off the heat, let it cool down for 1 minute, add a few drops of the watercolor we have chosen and finally add the drops of essential oils or perfumes. Mix with the mixer and pour into the moulds. If we notice that the soap on the edge of the mold, after we have poured it into bubbles, spray once over each soap, to remove the bubbles.
Tip: We can add to our soaps, after the color and perfumes, materials such as lavender flowers, rose petals, poppy seeds, cinnamon sticks, etc.
3rd step:
Let the soaps cool. After at least 2 hours have passed, take the soaps out of their molds.
4th step the packaging:
There are many ways to gift wrap your soap bars.
1st way: Cut parallelogram pieces of cardboard, wrap the soaps (as in the photo) and make a bow with a string or a ribbon.
2nd way: There are commercially ready packing boxes or pouches that you can put inside and decorate with a ribbon.
3rd way: Another very beautiful way to package your soaps is to find a small wooden box or ornament, put some corrugated cardboard inside and place them. So the lucky winner will receive the soaps as well as a nice decorative box, which he will be able to use elsewhere.
*Soap base, watercolors, and silicone molds can be found at soap, candle, and cosmetic stores.
