You use it every day at home and you need to throw it away immediately
Obviously you need to wash the dishes 2 or 3 times in a day – especially if you have a large family. But you know what happens with it sponge; THE dirt that collects on sponges is much bigger than you think. According to the American Huffington Post the dish sponge it is the dirtiest object you have inside your house, even dirtier than the toilet seat or the garbage cans.
In terms of numbers, new bacteria grow on wet sponges every 20 minutes. So, rinsing them with hot water doesn't accomplish much. If you don't sanitize and replace them often, every time you wash your dishes, what you're doing is transferring bacteria to them without actually cleaning them.
So how often should you replace your sponges?
The news is bad. Kitchen sponges should be changed once a week. If this seems excessive, change them every few weeks. It is enough, of course, to disinfect them in between.
The first thing to do immediately after use is to wash it thoroughly with water - so that no residue remains on it - and to dry it faster.
The easiest thing to do is to put it in a bowl full vinegar and leave it there for a whole night.
