do you snore What's wrong and why it's important to find out

Although we usually complain about it snoring of our partner, there are many women who snore.

And although we see it as an annoying "habit", snoring can hide behind a health problem and therefore needs investigation. And while you can't control it when it happens, you can do something to stop snoring for good.
Anatomy lesson
The main mechanism that causes snoring involves the level of the upper airway, namely the nose, pharynx and larynx. Simply put, what happens is that due to some anatomical obstacle, such as a crooked diaphragm, large nasal cavities or tonsils, a hypertrophic root of the tongue, some possible anatomical variations in the shape of the epiglottis, and perhaps some large cysts in the larynx or the nasopharynx that block the passage of air, this passage closes and causes the annoying sound during breathing that you know as snoring.
why do you snore
Snoring can be due to simple causes, such as eating a large amount of food too late at night, being overweight, drinking too much alcohol or smoking. But it can start from more complex issues, such as various anatomical problems and organic disorders that start from the nose and reach the thyroid gland or even your stomach (see gastroesophageal reflux).
Whatever the reason, the sure thing is that, if your snoring is loud and has been observed for many months, then you should visit your doctor. And this is important because apart from the fact that you wake up every day feeling tired, it is possible that you will be led to obstructive sleep apnea, a condition that can even threaten your life.
The treatment
According to the latest scientific data, it is clear that with timely surgical treatment, the progression of snoring to sleep apnea syndrome is prevented, which concerns a large percentage of people who snore. In recent years, the development in the field of otorhinolaryngology thanks to the use of endoscopic techniques and the application of robotic surgery has led to a spectacular improvement in the rehabilitation of patients with snoring and apnea.

With the operation, the increased resistance in the upper airway ceases to exist and this results in the restoration of proper oxygenation of the body. The otolaryngologist (ENT) is the most suitable to judge whether snoring is due to an anatomical problem of the airways and, if this is the case, the only one who can provide a solution to this annoying, but also dangerous, problem.
