Delicious Lemon Poppy Seed Cake
You know how much I love cooking and also baking. I have shared my recipes and secrets with you many times. This Lemon Poppy Seed Cake is very special, delicious and easy, especially if you like a little more sour sweets.
For our recipe we will need:
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 200 gr. butter
- 3 cups of flour
- 2 tbsp. baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 4 tablespoons of poppy seeds
- 4 eggs
- juice and zest of 3 lemons
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- flour and butter for the pan
Friday:
- Let the butter soften at room temperature and beat it with the sugar in the mixer until the mixture turns white. Then add one egg, milk, baking powder and poppy seeds. Lower the speed of the mixer and add the lemon zest and flour.
- Put the mixture in a buttered and floured form and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 40'-50'. When cooked, leave it in the form to cool completely.
- Mix the lemon juice with the powdered sugar and pour over the cake, after first having pierced it in several places, so that it absorbs the syrup. Serve with whipped cream or yogurt and leaves of fresh mint or honeysuckle.
