Treat infections with herbs

A visit to an organic store or a supermarket that carries organic goods is enough to get herbs that will shield your body against viruses and flu.

Green tea: It is known for its antioxidant properties. It helps digestion and slightly strengthens the central nervous system. It is considered one of the most important drinks that boost immunity and fight viruses and colds. You can drink a cup of tea daily and even for long periods of time, unlike most herbs, which require careful consumption.

Linden: It calms the central nervous system, acts beneficially against insomnia and relieves headaches and joint pain. In addition, it has diaphoretic properties.

Echinacea: It is strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, has an anti-catarrhal effect and is considered very effective for strengthening the immune system. You will find it in an inhaled form, in a capsule or in a tincture. Caution: Use sparingly, as continued use for extended periods may cause an increase in white blood cells and immune suppression. Daily use for about 10 days a month is recommended. It should also not be taken by those using immunosuppressive drugs such as cortisone.

Free-Grain / Siberian Ginseng: It acts as a tonic against the fatigue caused by a cold. To use as a decoction, boil the root (along with water). You can consume 1 cup for 2-3 days after a cold. You can also find it in capsules. Caution: Not indicated for people who have a problem with the cardiovascular system (e.g. hypertension).

Grapefruit: It is an extract from grapefruit seeds, contains vitamin C and proanthocyanidins. It acts as an antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory. It helps in the good functioning of the lymphatic and circulatory system. Caution: It is recommended not to be taken by people who have an irritable bowel and suffer from disorders of the digestive system. It should be taken between meals.

Blueberry: Taking it achieves a good balance in the hematopoietic system (iron, hemoglobin, hematocrit) and therefore strengthens your immune system. It relieves eye pain (due to viruses), while it acts as a diuretic. In the market you will find it as a concentrated juice or supplement. There is also a dried form that can be used in yogurt, milk or in fruit salads.

Licorice: Licorice in tincture or as a component of a mixture soothes sore throats and coughs, while relieving respiratory problems, since it is expectorant and mucolytic. Caution: It is not recommended for use by people with high blood pressure.

Acai berry: The acai berry helps eliminate toxins from the body and balance the body temperature. At the same time, it strengthens the circulation and the hematocrit, which is low in very intense infections. You can include its fruits in your diet, in the form of juice or drink, but also dried (e.g. in breakfast with cereals).

Zambukos: It is expectorant and mucolytic and calms coughs. Its decoction is diaphoretic, so it is used in colds, sinusitis, bronchitis and fevers. Gargles from its infusion relieve pharyngitis and sore throat.

Linseed oil: It is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids and provides significant help against flu symptoms. It strengthens the immune system and the central nervous system, while it helps the proper functioning of hormones and circulation. It has antimicrobial and antibacterial activity and generally acts as a detoxifier.

Spirulina: It is a "miracle seaweed" that includes all the essential amino acids, more than a hundred nutrients, antioxidant elements and a large amount of iron and protein. For these reasons, taking it helps the immune system function well. In the market you will find it in powder, flakes, capsules or syrup. Attention: If you get it in the form of powder or flakes, you can dissolve it in juice or food (as long as it is not hot, because it may lose some of its nutrients).
