This is how we make homemade ketchup!
Why buy ketchup when we can make our own which is just as delicious but definitely healthier?
Components
- 2.5 kg of ripe tomatoes
- 1 small onion
- 1 sc. garlic
- ¼ tsp Cayenne pepper
- 50 gr. apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp salt
- 2 tbsp molasses
- 2 tbsp honey
- ¼ tsp clove powder
- ¼ tsp cinnamon powder
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- ½ tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- pepper
- French Fries, for serving
Execution Method
- We cut the tomatoes into undefined pieces and throw them in one pot.
- Put the pot on medium heat and simmer for 30 minutes until the tomatoes soften and the tomato juices come out.
- Beat the tomatoes in the blender until they are pureed.
- Put a colander over a clean pot and pass the mixture.
- We press so that all the juice passes through the tomatoes and only the seeds and skins of the tomato remain in the colander.
- Chop the onion and garlic.
- Put them in the pot together with the rest of the ingredients. Mix with a wooden spoon ladle and put the pot on a low heat.
- Simmer for 4 hours.
- Pass the mixture through a blender and strainer to make the texture of the ketchup smoother.
- Taste the ketchup and correct the seasonings if necessary.
- We serve with French Fries.
- We store in jar in the refrigerator for 2 weeks.
