Profuse sweating of feet. The problems caused and how to deal with them

Most of us have suffered from sweaty and smelly feet from time to time, but for some people, sweaty feet is a persistent problem that makes people feel uncomfortable. But some people don't feel uncomfortable only because of the strong stench, but also because of the problems created in their legs, for example the legs in the photo.

Why do feet sweat more than other parts of the body?

There are more sweat glands on the feet per inch than anywhere else on the body, and their job is to keep the skin hydrated so it stays supple. The glands secrete sweat all the time and not just because of temperature or exercise.

What can cause hyperhidrosis of the feet;

Excessive sweating of the feet can be caused by stress on the foot. This can happen when the feet are under pressure or tired (eg standing all day). Hot weather can make things worse, although sweaty feet are a problem in both summer and winter. This phenomenon can also be hereditary. At young ages, hyperhidrosis is probably caused by overactive sweat glands due to changes in hormone levels in the body. Glands in the soles of the feet and palms are affected by emotion, so psychological or emotional stress is a common cause of hyperhidrosis.

Of course, there are also some small secrets that we can apply in our daily care in order to avoid very strong symptoms:

  • We bathe daily and make sure to wipe well between the toes.
  • We change socks one or more times a day
  • We prefer socks and shoes made of natural materials. Leather shoes let the feet breathe while cotton and wool socks keep the feet dry as they do not absorb moisture.
  • We alternate shoes since the footwear does not dry completely overnight.
  • We walk barefoot and dress in clothes made from natural fabrics such as cotton and silk.
  • We use deodorant every night. For greater safety, it is preferable to choose deodorants based on plant ingredients, such as coriander, parsley, cloves and hyssop.
  • We try relaxation techniques such as yoga and meditation to help control stress, which can cause heavy sweating.
  • We pay attention to our diet by avoiding foods that emit strong odors such as garlic and onion.
  • We use a special anti-fungal spray for feet and shoes to prevent the formation of a fungal infection
  • We put sports talc
