Christmas cookies with orange and cinnamon
The Christmas cookies they are what all children look forward to every year. Make them with them and make cooking a game!
Materials:
350 gr. flour for all uses
½ tsp salt
250 gr. unsalted butter, cut into cubes (at refrigerator temperature)
Zest from 2 oranges
150 gr. powdered sugar
2 kg. cinnamon powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 yolk (from a large egg)
1-2 kg. milk
For the icing:
235 gr. sifted powdered sugar
2 kg. lemon juice (maybe a little more if needed)
Friday:
Put the flour, butter, salt and orange zest in the mixer bowl.
Mix well and add powdered sugar and cinnamon.
Then the vanilla and the egg yolk. If the dough does not come together easily, add a spoonful of milk. Maybe a second one.
Divide it into two parts, wrap with film and place in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
With the help of the rolling pin, roll out each dough between two pieces of non-stick paper.
Its thickness should be about 4 mm.
Cut with a knife into any shape you want.
We continue the process until the dough is finished.
Place the cookies on baking sheets covered with non-stick paper and place in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
Then bake for 10 minutes at 180 degrees.
Take out and let them cool completely to cover them with the icing.
For the icing:
Pour the sifted powdered sugar and lemon juice into a bowl.
Mix well and put in a special bag.
Garnish the cookies.
Tip: If the icing is too runny, add a little more flour. If it is too thick a little lemon juice
