How to choose a filter and lens in sunglasses

Researchers from the University of Alicante in Spain found that for every hour of sun exposure increases by 4% the risk of eye damage, for example in the cornea or retina.
Researchers from the Department of Optics, Pharmacology and Anatomy estimate that wearing sunglasses between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. reduces the risk by about 2%. For adequate protection, however, the glasses must be approved by an official body.
look for it special CE mark, which means that the lens of the glasses meets European safety standards.
Another important criterion when choosing glasses is the lens filter. According to European regulations, UV filters are classified into five categories (0-4).
The filter we need is largely determined by our activities. When driving, for example, we need filter 1, 2 or 3, as filter 4 can affect our driving ability. However, for a trip to the sea or the mountain, where the reflection of light is stronger, a lens with filter 4 is needed.
Finally, as mentioned by onmed.gr, experts note that the price of the glasses and the color of the lens are not necessarily an indication of quality. In terms of color, they point out that a dark lens doesn't necessarily provide more protection, so we must emphasize mainly its technical specifications.
