World Mental Health Day
At October 10 is celebrated every year World Mental Health Day, with the aim of raising public awareness of mental illness. World Mental Health Day was established jointly in 1994 by the World Federation for Mental Health and the World Health Organization.
The number of sufferers from depression, exceeds 154 million worldwide, while by 2020 it will be the second cause of death worldwide as reported on sansimera.gr. Those suffering from schizophrenia it is 25 million, while 95 million suffer from alcohol abuse disorders.
Specifically, in regards to her Hellas and according to university research, only 80% of those suffering from depression seek help and less than 50% seek medical support.
At the same time, 10 to 12% of the total population of all ages suffer from mental illness.
